Central Station - August 18

Back from a good weekend at the cottage.

  • Leafs assistant coach Keith Acton won the lottery. Literally.
  • Chris Chelios has asked the Leafs if they’re interested in siging him.
  • Coaching the Leafs and Team USA, Ron Wilson is well prepared to be public enemy no. 1 in Canada.
  • Burke thinks the 2010 Olympics might be the last for NHL players.
  • More links as the day progresses!

  • Just a note: We have cut ties with writer William Favaro. We felt that the negativity he brought to Leafs nation was a little too much to handle. We’re sorry if any of his comments were outlandish or offensive.

Wise choice losing Favaro, nothing personal, but his views were a little ‘Bergeresque’ or ‘Coxist’ if you prefer. While the Leafs are not without plenty of question marks and soft spots on their roster, suggesting that the loss of Stralman and Williams, guys who combined played 49 games last year, essentially weakened their offence compared to last year is downright ludicrous and nowhere near objective.

Shame about Favaro..he was a stand up guy..tho a bit like my meatloaf..shallow and pedantic

Good move on Favaro. The guy was well on his way to being the Howard Berger of the Barilkosphere and that’s definitely not a compliment.

I gotta say I liked Favaro, , but hey it’s your site and the other writers are good too

I hated me. What an awful person.

But I am now open to writing for other sites. It would come with a cleaner act, because Peter instructed me to write the bad parts.

Heh, that comment’s funny. Way to show some integrity first by apparently doing what you were told despite not being comfortable with it and then blaming Peter for your writing.
